We have one full-time permanent role based in central Wellington.

**About the Role**:
As Senior Advisor, Policy, you'll be at the forefront of strategic policy work. You'll lead workstreams, provide high-impact advice, and guide others across the public sector. Your role sits within our Policy Group, which drives:

- Regulatory management and strategic coordination
- Stewardship across the public sector
- Regulatory impact analysis
- Second-opinion advice on major regulatory proposals

You'll work on complex, cross-cutting issues, support agencies in their stewardship responsibilities, and contribute to projects that span the Ministry. This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, challenge, and the opportunity to shape systems that touch every New Zealander.

**What you'll bring**:

- 5+ years' experience in public policy, ideally with a focus on regulatory policy and systems
- A tertiary qualification (or equivalent government experience), with a background in public policy, law or economics a plus
- Strong understanding of government processes, policy frameworks, and the machinery of government
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to distil complex ideas and influence effectively
- Proven ability to lead work independently and support others in a team setting
- The ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strategic thinking and political acumen
- A genuine commitment to improving regulation for all New Zealanders.

**Salary range**: $108,126 - $143,618 dependent on skills and experience.
