**Role overview**

Reporting into the Clinical Manager, the Clinical Psychologist is responsible for providing neurodevelopmental and mental health assessment services and clinical psychology services to neurodivergent children and young people and their families.

**Who we are**

Acorn Neurodiversity is a not-for-profit, multidisciplinary centre for neurodivergent children, adolescents and young adults based in Auckland, New Zealand. We are a team of professionals dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and youth by delivering evidence-based, family-focused services. We provide speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, positive behavior support, early intervention and mental health services with coordinated care.

**About the role**

The overriding goal of Acorn Neurodiversity’s therapy services is to increase the well-being and quality of life of our clients. As a Registered Clinical Psychologist at Acorn, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Behaviour Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists and Behavioural Psychologists. As this is a new role at Acorn, a degree of ingenuity and initiative will be required to develop the role to best fulfil our mission.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Build trusting relationships with clients, colleagues and external professionals.
- Conduct neurodevelopmental assessments for autism and ADHD with a multidisciplinary team
- Provide differential diagnosis for mental health conditions
- Design and implement interventions that are evidence-based and utilise a neurodiversity affirming and strengths-based approach
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Potentially, supervise interns
- Monitor client progress
- Develop an Acorn Neurodiversity model of mental health care integrated with all of our services
- Train/educate family members and other professionals (teachers, Oranga Tamariki, Acorn team)
- Develop transition plans as necessary
- Complete required documentation including progress notes, assessments, termination and progress reports
- Stay current on evidence-based practices

**Key skills & requirements**:

- NZ Registered Psychologist - Clinical scope of practice
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
- Cultural competence to work with families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds
- Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, FASD or other additional needs
- Autism Spectrum Disorder, FASD, and ADHD specific coursework, training or workshops
- Experience working with children and adolescents
- Experiencing working within an MDT desirable but not required
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
- Clearance from a criminal record check.
- NZ permanent residency/citizenship, or valid NZ work visa
