Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security Assurance this role is a specialist position within the security architecture and information security domains for the Ministry.
The Senior Cyber Security Architect is responsible for input into the development and operation of the current and future security architectures for the Ministry’s ICT solutions whilst ensuring optimal alignment with the Ministry’s strategic direction and business needs, and government and industry standards.
The appointee becomes involved with solutions at the time of inception and then remain involved throughout the lifecycle of a project to ensure solutions contribute to and deliver on MBIE's strategic security direction. In this role the appointee conducts security assessments (Certification and Accreditation) and assesses the security/assurance of a solution over its product lifecycle and develops continuous assurance processes for MBIE systems.
**The Senior Cyber Security Architect will**:
- Provide cyber security advice to project teams and business stakeholders on new projects or existing solutions; modifications to existing services; or ad-hoc advice on BAU activities.
- Define and implement effective risk strategies.
- Ensure solutions are optimally aligned with the Ministry’s strategic direction and business needs, and government and industry cyber security standards.
- Conduct Certification and Accreditation processes for ICT systems, performing upfront risk analysis, security risk assessments and controls validation assessments.
- Identify remediations and improvements to existing ICT systems and prioritise and track implementation of these remediations. Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required
- 10+ years’ experience and knowledge in Security and IT related roles.
- Proven experience in completing Certification and Accreditation processes for ICT systems, including security risk assessments and controls validation assessments.
- Proven ability to remain up to date on key technical changes and opportunities in the cyber security domain and proactively use this to continuously improve MBIE services.
- Good knowledge and wide experience across security disciplines with a good understanding of contemporary best practice principles and NZISM.
- Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with stakeholders of an ICT system.
