Within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educational Environment we provide classroom teaching to 120 students in 14 provisions. Our students range in age from 5 - 21. The school employs 36 FTTE teaching staff with Teacher Aides, Educational Interpreters, NZ Sign Language Tutors and is supported by Ko Taku Reo’s strong Corporate, Communications and IT services.

Ko Taku Reo is a new school, started in July 2020. The Assistant Head of Enrolled School is a leadership position that supports the Head of Enrolled School and/or Deputy Head of Enrolled School by leading Syndicate teams to strengthen best practice in the School service. This role is part of a small group of Assistant Heads of Enrolled School, collaborating to ensure a consistent national service. There are three main priorities of this role. The first is the implementation of school procedures, policies and systems. The second is strong leadership of the Syndicate Teams. Finally, the development, monitoring and implementation of all assessment in the School Service, including examinations and review of student progress and achievements.
