Community Child Health Fellow

**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**
- The purpose of this position is that the Fellow will gain further training in Community Child Health at an advanced trainee level. The Fellow shall be responsible for the management of patients in Child Development, undertake Child Protection assessments, and Gateway clinics at an advanced trainee level. Provision of outpatient and other clinics and dictation of clinical notes. Discussions and meetings with care givers and patients’ family when required. Provide mentoring and advice to junior registrars and house surgeons, attend weekly Child Health Integrated Referral Pathway meetings and other departmental and multi-disciplinary team meetings. _
- The Fellow will receive supervision and direction by an appropriate consultant General or Developmental Paediatrician. Participation and assistance in clinical teaching, tutorials and journal club._
- The Fellow may be required to supervise Registrars who are at a level of training below their own when rostered to do so. The trainee will be expected to complete project work consistent with the requirements of the RACP General Paediatrics or Community Child Health SAC._
- The trainee may initiate and lead an appropriate Audit Project to completion._

- Hutt Hospital is a busy 260 bed facility providing secondary services for Lower and Upper Hutt cities. It provides regional Plastics, Oral Maxillofacial and Rheumatology services. There are 8000+ operative procedures per year in General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynaecology, Dental, Plastics, reconstruction and OMF. There are 2,200 deliveries annually in the Obstetric Unit. There are 600 admissions to the ICU each year._

- disciplinary Child Developmental Service. _

**Moū - About you**
- This role would suit someone who is an advanced towards the end of their training and wants exposure to child development and child protection in a supportive environment_
- Recent experience and knowledge of the Child Development Service _
- Works well in a collaboration with the multidisciplinary team_
- Ideally is trained in the Griffith III Developmental tool _
- Ideally has undertaken training in the assessment of suspected child sexual assault and child physical abuse._
- This role has been accredited by the RACP Specialist Advisory Committee in Community Child Health for advanced training accreditation._
