Verification Engineer

**About Us**
Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference in your next role?
Why? As a society, we need to decarbonise and accelerate the transition to alternative energy sources. Existing solutions are expensive and disparate, with limited functionality.
Basis is driven by purpose, real innovation, and ambition. We have a talented team spread across New Zealand, with a creative space by the beach in Takapuna, and a Design Lab in Christchurch where our physical products come to life.
**The Role**
We’re looking to grow our Verification Team. This is an intermediate role and you’ll be helping us to extend our capabilities with your excellent testing skills. We have an existing small team, functional products, and test infrastructure - and we need to build on those to deliver a test solution that accelerates our products to market.
To be clear - this is not a role where you’ll simply be polishing some ancient code and nurturing old products along. Instead, you’ll be working with new lab equipment and fresh test infrastructure with ample opportunity to create world-leading verification capabilities.
Some of the things that you might be involved in include:
- **Process development**: Work with the verification team to create efficient and effective processes which enable rapid execution of tests and delivery of results to the design chapters
- **Design**: Perform the conceptual and the detailed design of test equipment and solutions
- **Build**: Make test equipment, including: mechanical components/assembly; electrical components/connections; connections to sensors and data capture hardware; and writing code/UI to operate the test equipment/procedures
- **Advise**: Provide technical expertise and guidance to all teams related to verification, to ensure high product and testing quality
- **Strategy**:Develop resource and time-efficient strategies for rapidly implementing scalable and sustainable test infrastructure
- **Analysis**: Provide quality metrics from testing to design chapters through data analysis, test result, and trends
- **Communicate**:Transfer information and findings from testing and data analysis across the organisation in ways that make the information easily accessible to all audiences
If you’re looking for an opportunity to jump-in and make a real impact, then we want to hear from you. Please note; as you will need to interact with physical lab equipment, you must be located in Christchurch and able to come into our offices regularly.
**About You**
We think you’ll be a fit for this role if you have the following skills/or traits:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
- At least 1 year professional experience in testing / verification engineering in the electrical or electronics industry
- Experience working with electrical circuits (both AC and DC)
- Experience working with electrical lab equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, data loggers)
- Experience writing code in Python, including interfacing with lab equipment
- An ability to take initiative, follow through on what you say you’ll do, and own your mistakes
- Determination and tenacity, maintaining a positive attitude in challenging situations
- View challenges as opportunities for growth, adapt positively to change and embrace feedback
- Clear, candid and concise communication skills - both written and verbal, but also an ability to be kind and compassionate when dealing with others
**Benefits**
- A competitive salary and employee share scheme (ESOP)
- Hybrid arrangement and flexi-time - mix of at home and the office
- Unlimited annual leave so that you can take the time that you need to re-energise
- Tools of trade, including laptop and headphones, and we also pay your phone bill
- Flexible hours - we focus on effort and outcomes, so adjust your hours around your children, hobbies, or other commitments
- A schedule of fun team events throughout the year (Lego Battle Bots, Board Game Nights, Tram Driving, what's next?)
- Office dogs
- Access to Clearhead, our well-being programme which gives you 5x free sessions with a psychologist per year
- A $200 one-off payment towards your home workstation
- A commitment to diversity and inclusion: Pride Committee, Pride Pledge, DEIB Committee, EEO Policy and wellbeing initiatives throughout the year
- Parental leave policy that tops up wages to 100% for the primary caregiver for up to 22 weeks (conditions apply)
- The opportunity to learn and develop from some of the best and brightest minds in the industry
