We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The haematology laboratory provides a comprehensive diagnostic and laboratory haematology service to the Auckland City Hospital and the ambulatory services of the hospital and the Greenlane Clinical Centre. Our hospital is a major teaching and research centre for haematologists in training and haematology laboratory scientists and has close liaison with the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland.
The haematology laboratory provides a 24 hour general haematology service including blood counts/morphology and haemostasis, as well as specialised services in thrombosis and haemostasis and special haematology investigations. The flow cytometry section is the largest in the country and provides services to the wider Auckland region and Northland as well as specialised tests (MRD) for the rest of the country. We work closely with the Department of Diagnostic Genetics where molecular haematology and cytogenetic tests are done. We are also a reference centre for other healthcare providers throughout New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
As the ideal person for this role you must be registered with the New Zealand Medical Council as a Specialist Pathologist, with FRCPA or equivalent qualification and must have specialist experience in laboratory haematology and teaching of undergraduates, registrars and hospital staff. Experience with flow cytometric analyses is desirable.
