In this role, you will support whānau in accessing kaupapa Māori wellness services based on traditional Māori systems of healing that enhance health and wellbeing. You will play a vital role in delivering a holistic, strengths-based approach to wellbeing, recognizing that whānau are the primary drivers of good health and wellbeing. The service model focuses on community responsiveness and integration.**Your Responsibilities.** - Deliver specific traditional wellness techniques such as karakia, whakawhiti kōrero, pūrakau, wai rakau, romiromi, and mirimiri to whānau and community group cohorts to support wellness, balance, and whānau mana motuhake. - Support whānau holistically to uphold the mana of Te Whānau o Waipareira, building and maintaining robust, positive relationships. - Protect, enhance, and develop the cultural, environmental, economic, and social wellbeing of whānau. **Your Skills & Experience.** - Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Te Ao Māori practices, including tikanga, kawa, and traditional wellness systems. - Experience in delivering traditional wellness techniques, such as karakia, whakawhiti kōrero, pūrakau, wai rakau, romiromi, and mirimiri, within a kaupapa Māori framework. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with whānau and community group cohorts. - Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect. - Strong commitment to upholding the mana of Te Whānau o Waipareira and promoting the wellbeing of whānau. **Preferred Qualifications.** - Relevant qualification in rongoā Māori or traditional Māori healing practices. - Experience working in a similar role within a Māori community or organization. - Knowledge of community resources and services related to Māori health and wellbeing. **Nau Mai, Haere Mai.** Te Whānau o Waipareira is one Aotearoa's largest non-government organisations, having served the Waitākere Region for over 30 years.
