Auckland City, New Zealand Basis Full time

**About Us**

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference in your next role?

Why? As a society, we need to decarbonise and accelerate the transition to alternative energy sources. Existing solutions are expensive and disparate, with limited functionality.

Basis is driven by purpose, real innovation, and ambition. We have a talented team spread across New Zealand, with a creative space by the beach in Takapuna, and a Design Lab in Christchurch where our physical products come to life.

Our team is smart, curious and has some big goals - so if you’re interested in joining a fast-growing and startup that is design-led and puts people at its core, then we’d love to hear from you

**The Role**

We are seeking an enthusiastic, diligent, and motivated Finance Associate to join our team for a 12-month fixed term contract. In this pivotal role, you will be a key counterpart to the Head of Finance, managing our accounting function and supporting our growth as we transition from a startup to a scaling SME. You'll play a vital part in streamlining processes, leveraging automation and AI, and supporting strategic finance initiatives like capital raising.

So if you are ambitious, with meticulous attention to detail and a passion for identifying efficiencies and solving problems, please read on

**Some of the things that you might be involved in include**:
**Financial Operations & Accounting**:

- Ensure the accuracy of financial data in systems like Xero and AirWallex.
- Manage the full month-end close process, including reconciliations and GST returns.
- Oversee accounts payable and payment runs, ensuring timely supplier payments.
- Support working capital management, including inventory and accounts receivable.
- Act as a power-user for finance systems (Xero, AirWallex) and support their integration.

**Budgeting & Reporting**:

- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and monthly budget vs. actual reporting.
- Support Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams with budget management.
- Contribute to investor reporting and ad-hoc requests.
- Track grant claimable costs and prepare quarterly submissions.

**Fundraising Support**:

- Help maintain and update the long-term financial model.
- Support the creation of investor materials and data room content.

**Finance Business Partnering & Improvement**:

- Document and improve finance processes and policies.
- Manage ESOP and other equity instrument processing and documentation.
- Support the ongoing evolution of finance processes and systems as the company scales.
- Support new market launches

**Please note**; we would like this role to begin in late August/early September to allow for a handover with our existing staff member. Please ensure that this timeframe works for you before applying.

**About You**

We think you’ll be a fit for this role if you have the following skills/or traits:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and ideally, CA or CPA qualified
- Existing proficiency in Excel and Xero.
- Recent experience in commercial finance, corporate finance, or FP&A.
- Experience in an accounting role, with a Big 4 background preferred.
- Consistently displays a positive attitude, and is comfortable with ambiguity, and effectively prioritising tasks in the face of changing priorities.
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and good communication abilities.
- An instinct for driving for efficiencies and optimisation of processes - not settling until a process or system is as slick as it can be
- An ability to take initiative, follow through on what you say you’ll do, and own your mistakes

**Benefits**
- A competitive salary and employee share scheme (ESOP)
- Hybrid work from home, and in the office
- Tools of trade, including laptop and headphone allowance
- Flexible hours - we focus on effort and outcomes, so adjust your hours around your children, hobbies, or other commitments
- A schedule of fun team events throughout the year (ziplining, knife throwing, lawn games, what's next?)
- Office dogs + steady supply of fresh fruit and snacks in the office
- Access to Clearhead, our well-being programme which gives you 5x free sessions with a psychologist per year
- A commitment to diversity and inclusion: Pride Committee and partnering with Pride Pledge, DEIB Committee, EEO Policy and well-being strategy
- Parental leave policy that tops up wages to 100% for the primary caregiver for up to 22 weeks and up to 6 weeks for secondary caregivers (conditions apply)
- The opportunity to learn and develop from some of the best and brightest minds in the industry

**Let's Talk**
