**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

This role is open to current permanent employees of Te Pūkenga only. Open Polytechnic offers flexible working arrangements to our kaimahi

As a Mental Health & Wellbeing Coordinator you will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and positive environment for ākonga. This role is integral to the development and implementation of non-clinical mental health programmes and initiatives. You will enjoy working as one of a team in a fast-paced learner centred environment enabling and empowering learners' wellbeing so they can succeed in online distance learning.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Facilitating essential connections for ākonga to access online and local wellbeing services as needed.
- Driving awareness among ākonga of the available Mental Health Support Services
- Developing systems and processes for ongoing automated awareness campaigns about available Mental Health Support Services
- Developing external connections with mental health providers that specialise working with Māori, Pasifika, and Disabled ākonga (particular focus on delivery of online wānanga)
- Creating and developing initiatives and events to promote mental health services.
- Organising and co-ordinating wānanga sessions during the year as new ākonga enrol every month.
- Exploring within the Te Pūkenga network for initiatives and opportunities for wānanga for Disabled ākonga
- Qualification and/or experience in Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Coordination.
- Relevant tertiary education qualification (bachelor's degree desired) or currently working towards a degree.
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
- At least 3 years' experience in the vocational education sector.
- Strong cultural capability and a commitment to Te Ao Māori, including the ability to use Te Reo Māori effectively in the role.
- Understanding and demonstrable knowledge of Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
