**About the Role**

Our registered nurses provide liaison and consultation to and between Courts, Prisons, Justice Departments, Mental Health, Police, Government and Community Agencies on mental health and addiction matters and the management of associated problems within the identified agency.

The nurse utilises clinical and medical-legal knowledge and skills to provide a quality rapid assessment of those persons identified as having or who may have a mental health and addiction problem.

**About the Team/Service Location**

The regional arm of Te Korowai-Whāriki includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings - prisons, courts, community, and inpatient. The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to defendant - s charged with criminal offences and offenders who have psychiatric illness. We are based in Porirua, Wellington.

**About you**

We are looking for someone who is able to demonstrate professional, legal and ethical responsibilities and cultural safety. This includes being able to demonstrate knowledge and judgement and being accountable for their own actions and decisions, while promoting an environment that maximises patients - safety, independence, quality of life and health.

You must have
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ).
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and scope appropriate to place of work
- Have a pre-registration or post registration qualification in MH nursing (or ID) to work in MHAIDS.
- Full NZ Driver - s Licence.
