**Do you have a passion for informing women and partners about pregnancy, optimising their birth experience and giving them the tools to manage those first weeks as new parents?**
- If so we have a vacancy for an enthusiastic educator to lead our Antenatal Education classes in Marlborough. This is a permanent part-time position working 8 hours a week (0.2FTE) and would be suitable for a registered midwife or nurse, (with a recognised qualification in childbirth education - or working towards), a he kuia whare tapu, or other respected teacher, recognised by the respective runanga, or a qualified childbirth educator with a nationally recognised Diploma in Pregnancy, Childbirth and Early Parent Education.
The 8 hours could be worked as 2 x 4 hour sessions a week (day or evening), or 1 x 8 hour weekend session, or 2 x 4 hour weekend sessions a week.
- If you are a registered midwife there is potential for this 0.2FTE role to be added to a Core Midwife appointment, should a vacancy arise in the future._
**Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)**
You will have the background and experience required to develop and co-ordinate an educational service on pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting in accordance with the national MOH parenting and pregnancy education service specifications and local needs.
**This will include**:
- Teaching antenatal classes
- Complying with Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative objectives to support and protect breast-feeding
- Effectively managing the service within an allocated budget
- Producing reports and collect data about service delivery
- Having an understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
