We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced kaimahi to join our forward thinking, passionate regional team based in the vibrant community of Porirua.

**Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity**

The Senior Advisor leads work with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities to develop and implement initiatives that will improve long-term economic and social outcomes for Māori.

They are a conduit for information both into and out of Māori communities, managing and analysing information at a local level on Māori views, aspirations and experiences, to contribute to Te Puni Kōkiri policy thinking.

As a stakeholder relationship leader, they manage local level contractual arrangements and inform investment decisions, including in partnership with the other Te Puni Kōkiri teams.

Adaptable and flexible, they tailor their mahi to the priorities of the Rohe, as part of a e whā ngā tari, kotahi te rohe | four office, one region approach. Through mentoring and coaching of Advisors in their region, they help improve capability.

**Mōu | About you**

Trustworthy and reliable, you take pride in building strong, lasting relationships with other kaimahi and community, and are agile in how you approach and manage your workload. Skills and experiences we are looking for include.
- The ability to identify, build and actively manage significant relationships and experience working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities.
- Knowledge of work programmes including Whānau Ora and Māori economic development
- Experience as an advisor, including understanding the machinery of government, the public service and public sector processes. This includes the rationale and mechanisms of government intervention.
- Data and analytical skills. Understanding what sits behind the numbers, knowledge of investments and contracts.
- Commitment to building long-term significant relationships, and valuing diverse perspectives and experiences
- Have a broad understanding of Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and recognise the importance of the Treaty from both Māori and Crown perspectives.
- Are comfortable working in a te ao Māori environment and in situations where tikanga is observed
- Excellent communication skills including a conversational level of te Reo Māori
- A clean full motor vehicle driver's licence.
