**Lifeguard | West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre (Henderson)**

Working as a lifeguard is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community. Lifeguards are the key to ensuring a safe environment for our customers and are essential to the successful running of our aquatic facilities.

Pool lifeguards are observant, patient, and good with people. Their skill set means they have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible, and calm way.

As a lifeguard, you are responsible for:

- Provide a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers
- Educate and enforce pool rules
- Respond to any First Aid emergencies
- Ensure pool and surrounds are clean at all times

**We are currently looking for 3 permanent lifeguards**:

- 16 hour
- Friday 5:15am - 1:45pm and Saturday 5:30am - 2:00pm
- 16 hour
- Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday and Thursday 3:30pm - 7:30pm
- 32 hour
- Sunday 11:00am - 7:30pm, Thursday 9:00am - 5:30pm and Monday and Friday 1:30 - 10:00pm

Our centre opens from 6:30 am - 6:15 pm at weekends and 5:00 am - 9:15 pm on weekdays, the ability to work early night, late night, and weekend are crucial.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for people of age who are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others and can commit to full-time work.
- Swim 200m in less than 6 minutes (Any stroke, or a mixture of strokes, can be used)
- Swim 50m breaststroke
- Swim 25m sidestroke
- Retrieve objects from the deepest part of the pool (depth varies across centres)
- Tread water for 5 minutes

Do not worry if you do not have a PLPC certification; we will provide **ALL** training for you free of charge and pay you to attend the training.

**However, you must be available for the LG training from 2 Dec - 13 Dec 2024 (Weekdays 8:30am - 4pm) at West Wave.**

By the same token, if we occasionally need some help in other areas such as at our front desk and general customer service duties, as a team member, you may be called on to cover these areas if short-staffed or at peak periods.

**Pay Rate: 27.80/h+**
