- An exciting opportunity has become available for a driven and commercially-minded Design Estimator to join our Design Team based in East Tamaki, Auckland. You will be working across a range of large sub-division projects for our customers. within the Auckland region. You’ll be going onsite to scope, design and price these projects and ensure the appropriate standards, safety and regulations are met.**The Role**
Reporting to the Design Team Leader, the key focus of your role is to manage the high level and detailed design and estimating process for both overhead and underground projects. As a Design Estimator, you will:
- Be responsible for design, pricing, planning and tender preparation for significant projects for HV/LV and zone sub stations
- Assess, develop and implement the most cost effective and efficient methodology and procedures
- Gain consents, permissions or agreements from territorial bodies and other government and non-government agencies as it relates to the design and estimating function
- Carry out peer reviews in consultation with the Project Management team ensuring the design and pricing is accurate and compliant
- Support in developing and reviewing engineering proposals and assessments, providing technical advice on engineering designs and technical issues on projects
- Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships with customers and third party representatives

**About you**
To be successful in this role, ideally you will have anywhere between 2-5 years’ minimum experience in in scoping, tendering and estimating projects in either an electrical, utilities or construction space.. You will need to be comfortable liaising with multiple people and departments, detail-focused and able to see the bigger picture. Also, you will have a great work attitude and willingness to be part of and work cohesively with other team members. You’ll also have:
- Background and tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Proven experience in pricing and tendering process
- Industry knowledge and experience in LV and HV distribution systems and Zone Substations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Great computer skills with intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office suite
- Full class 1 driver’s licence
- Knowledge of working on a customer management system like SAP (preferable not essential)
