About the Role

As a Respiratory Physiologist you will be working with the team of Respiratory and Sleep Physiologists undertaking respiratory and sleep investigations. This includes conducting various lung function investigations including spirometry, diffusion, lung volumes, and cardiopulmonary exercise tests. You will also be actively involved in the busy Sleep Service, including issuing and downloading overnight study devices, and technical support for patients on CPAP.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team of Respiratory and Sleep Physiologists are part of the wider multi-disciplinary Respiratory team caring for patients with a range of respiratory conditions. Our innovative team focuses on delivering better, faster, and more accessible care for patients with respiratory conditions. The team includes Physiologists, Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Community Health Workers and Administrators. The role is primarily based at Manukau Health Park, however you will travel to Middlemore hospital for multi-disciplinary meetings and academic opportunities.

About you

Although this is primarily a Respiratory Physiology role, if your CPRB registration is within the Sleep Physiology discipline there will be opportunity and expectation for you to complete the Certified Respiratory Function Scientist (CRFS) exam, while learning to perform lung function tests.

At a minimum to register with CPRB, a Bachelor of Science (preferably majoring in Physiology or Science) is required. Preference may be given to holders of a Masters qualification relating directly to the role, such as those with a Masters in Clinical Exercise Testing. You will be expected to be able to complete the CRFS exam after a year (or earlier in some circumstances).
