We have a current opening for a Pre-Construction Manager to join our successful Tendering team that services the Transport and Infrastructure division nationally. Responsible for leading a team of bid leads, and being a critical member of Tendering Leadership, this Pre-Construction Manager role, is critical to securing future capital and maintenance works opportunities; it is an integral part of the success of our business. If you thrive on developing and delivering a bid strategy, influencing others to achieve deadlines, working with a range of capable and dedicated people across the business, putting your creativity and leadership skills to work every day and delivering results, this is your role. You will have the necessary industry experience, skills and attributes to work as a part of our dedicated bid and operations teams on submissions from $1m to $1bn in value.

The purpose of this role in order to maximise revenue for Downer Transport and Infrastructure is to:

- Favourably position Downer ahead of tender issue, working with the wider team to develop winning bid strategies and secure winning partnerships
- Coordinate and lead a team of capable bid leaders to develop winning tenders
- Ensure tenders are run efficiently and smoothly from all aspects in line with Downer Standard requirements
- Finalise contract negotiations with customers.

In addition to that, the Pre Construction Manager will actively participate in the Business Unit Strategy, inputting alongside other members of the New Business Leadership team.

**About you**:

- Proven experience in managing tender processes within the Civil Engineering and Construction industry from conception to final submission
- Experience in Construction or Design Management, Business Development, Estimating Management and/or Bid Management roles
- Desirable to hold a tertiary qualification or equivalent. Qualification in a related discipline, e.g. engineering, architecture, commercial, operations management, quantity surveying, or business management.
- Understanding of the various procurement methods employed by clients and the impact of these methods to tender strategy
- Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and understanding of financial management and has proven negotiation skills.
- Team focused. Builds effective relationships to bring out the best in people and create strong morale.’
- Diligence and an eye for detail
- A strong level of verbal and written communication skills
- Clear demonstration of Zero Harm commitment and championing of strategies to keep our people and the environments we operate in safe.
