**Mō te tūranga | About the role**
- Development, management and integration of regional hazard information.
- Provide natural hazard and climate change risk and resilience expertise to various stakeholders.
- Support the development of climate change adaptation projects and taking a risk-based approach to natural hazard management.
- Investigation, management and resolution of regional hazard issues.
- Provision of advice to key stakeholders on regional hazard and risk management.
- Collaborative hazard and risk management projects with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate and advocate hazard research.
- Actively respond to emergency events across the region.
- The Waikato Regional Council are strong advocates on providing information on natural hazards and climate change that enable informed communities and good decision making.
- The primary focus of the role within the wider Regional Resilience team is to ensure we have resilient communities within the Waikato Region as set out in the Council’s Strategic Direction.

- Highly motivated and driven to make a difference.
- Can see both the detail and the big picture.
- Communicates confidently with a wide range of people.
- Holds a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Brings expertise in natural hazard and climate risk.
- Is familiar with relevant legislation, statutory documents, and processes.
- Has practical experience in:

- Natural hazard modelling
- Risk assessment
- Resilience planning

**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification - Natural Hazard Risk & Resilience **or**
- Climate Risk or another discipline i.e. Engineering.
- Post Graduate Qualification is desirable. i.e. Hydrology, Geology, Coastal, Volcanology.
