**Executive Producer - AM**

**Overview**

**AM is Newshub’s morning news show, setting the agenda for Warner Bros. Discovery NZ’s news brand. As the Executive Producer, you’ll have responsibility for **all aspects of both AM and AM Early leading a team of producers and presenting and overseeing** **editorial, cost, revenue, and operational performance.**

**The EP will have a clear vision for the programme and will deliver **a world class television breakfast news offering** t**hat sets the news agenda and is both informative and entertaining.**

**With cost responsibility, the EP must manage the expenses of the multifaceted show** t**o budget, following the directions of the Director of News should adjustments be** **required.**

**People management is at the heart of this role, and involves the delicate skill required** **in handling high performing and high-profile talent as well as inspiring, directing and developing production staff. This includes formal line management.**

**T**he EP of AM will also work closely with Integration and Sales to** **ensure the show maximizes revenue while not compromising our newsroom’s editorial** **independence and integrity.**

**Operationally, AM and AM Early air from 5:30am-9am every weekday, requiring a person** **with resilience and considerable leadership skill, as well as a good understanding of** **non-broadcast platforms such as social networks and online news offerings.**

**Requirements**:

- ** Leadership experience, including management of individuals and teams**
- ** Exceptional editorial judgement and a good knowledge of local and international current affairs**
- ** Tertiary level journalism qualification or equivalent of 10+ years industry experience**
- ** Excellent knowledge of Broadcasting Standards obligations**
- ** Excellent knowledge of laws governing defamation, libel and other applicable legal issues**
- ** Adept at using inews, UX/Avid, Google suite etc**
- ** Must have the legal right to work**

**Responsibilities**:

- ** Working with the Director of News, other news leaders to achieve wider goals within the newsroom**
- ** Maintain excellent relationships with the marketing and promotions staff to promote the show**
- ** To create a regular feedback system for the AM and AM Early presenters and production teams that encourages the creation of great content and identifies weaknesses and minimises errors.**
- ** Ownership of the entire AM and AM Early shows as products, including responsibility for the overarching vision, team leadership and direction, product improvement, operational efficiency and oversight of all show segments.**
- ** Work with show staff and other senior newsroom leaders to identify stories on a daily basis, and where necessary agree on story allocations.**
- ** Communicate and work with all Newshub platforms and other news shows to ensure the best result for the whole newsroom.**
- ** Ensure all stories are editorially and legally sound, and BSA-compliant.**
- ** Recruiting staff as required.**
- ** Working with the Newshub Graphics team on design and delivery of graphics packages for the show.**
- ** Ensuring Editorial Coverage plans are developed and executed for major stories and events.**
- ** Ensuring the programme delivers to its clients/sponsors/commercial partners.**
- ** Leading, managing and directing staff including high profile talent**
- ** Conducting staff reviews where appropriate, including implementing and administering the WBD system of achievement review.**
- ** The Employee shall ensure they are familiar with the Employer's health and safety policies and procedures, and any modifications to those policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time.**
- ** Carry out your work safely and without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.**
