The role of a Āpiha Whare Herehere (Corrections Officer) is about influencing those in our care to make the right choices, take the right action at the right time and support their pathway towards an offence-free lifestyle. - Are passionate about helping others

- Be able to work rostered shifts across 24/7 pattern including weekends and public holidays
- Experience within a Kaupapa Māori or Pasifika environment, while not essential is desirable
- Demonstrate strong integrity and safety awareness
- Understand and demonstrate the Departmental values of the Department
- Whanau, Kaitiaki, Rangatira, Manaaki and Wairua

Along with your unique skills and perspective we also need you to have the following:

- Current and full New Zealand driver licence or Restricted Licence with the ability to sit your full licence within the next 6 months.
- Legally able to work fulltime in New Zealand (work visa must have a remaining period of minimum 12 months)

**Pre-employment checks are also required and include**: Drug test, full Police vetting (Clean Slate Act does not apply), medical assessment, a physical fitness assessment and reference checks.
We provide fully paid training, when you commence training on our CODP (Corrections Officer Development Pathway) which involves an initial week's induction onsite, 5 weeks at our National Learning Centre in Wellington then four weeks back at your site, before graduating and from there, the learning journey will be ongoing.

Utu ā-Tau | Salary and Benefits
- Starting salary $59,519, increasing as you achieve National Qualifications Level 3 ($64,197) and Level 4 ($69,363).

We currently have full time permanent positions available at Northland Region Corrections Facility (NRCF).
Northland Region Corrections Facility (NRCF) is nestled in the heart of Te Tai Tokerau. On the whenua of Ngati Rangi, NRCF has been operating since it's establishment in 2005. The site is a temporary home for the up to 489 men. NRCF is a site with a strong passion for Rehabilitation and Reintegration, as well as with a strong focus on arts, including whakairo. Established as a facility it seeks to transform the approach towards caring for prisoners via the Hokai Rangi strategy, and the Maori Pathways project. This project seeks to establish a strong kaupapa Maori approach to the work that NRCF undertakes, whilst ensuring a strong focus on risk management and staff safety.
