**Job Description**:
Barber Shack Ltd is looking to hire dedicated barbers to consult with clients and
ensure their hair-related needs are met. The barber’s responsibilities include
cutting, trimming, and styling client's hair according to their instructions and billing
clients.
You should also be able to provide hairstyle suggestions and haircare advice.
To be successful as a barber, you should be able to provide quality facial hair
grooming services to clients. Ultimately, a top-notch barber should keep up with
new and emerging hairstyles and trends.
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
Welcome clients with clear English communication and promptly update
them on their appointment status.
Consult with clients on their desired hairstyle. Provide hairstyle
suggestions
Cutting, trimming and styling hair according to client’s instructions.
Cutting, trimming and styling beards and moustaches according to client’s
instructions.
Ensuring that before and after each haircut your barber station, combs,
scissors, razors and all other work equipment and instruments are clean.
Open and/or close the shop.
General cleaning and upkeep of shop during downtime;
Sweep and mop the floor.
- Wipe and dust all surfaces from the front of the shop to the back.
- Emptying rubbish bins.
- Clean mirrors and windows.
- Bathroom; sink and toilet.
- Laundry.
- Restock of products.
- Engage with customers and foster relationships to expand your client
base.
Create and post content to social media daily to attract customers
(Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc)
Work Roster:
Regular work hours are a minimum of 30 hours per week and a maximum
of 64 hours per week.
Rosters and hours change according to busy and quiet periods throughout
the year, such as winter and summer, as well as New Zealand school
holidays.
Successful applicants should be available to work Thursdays to Sundays,
which are our busiest days.
You may be asked to work half days (minimum 4 hours) on Mondays,
Tuesdays, and Wednesdays as needed.
Potential late nights on Thursdays and Fridays until 9 PM, with possible
split shifts (for example, 7:30 AM - 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM).
**Requirements**:
Must have a NZQF qualification or at least three years relevant
experience.
Must be able to follow instructions.
The ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Excellent English communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must be keen and reliable.
Clean and tidy attire is a must. Black pants or shorts and black shoes
(work shirts are provided).
Barber tools must be up to standard.
Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
Must be a NZ citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.
This is a permanent full time role. The pay rate ranges from $25 to $35 per hour,
depending on qualifications and experience.
