**Mō te tūnga | About the role**
Our Christchurch Hospital Intensive Care Unit provides tertiary care for the greater South Island. Through our Intensive & High Dependency Care units we provide tertiary trauma care, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, spinal care and a large variety of general surgical and medical care as well as paediatrics. We also provide a Deteriorating Patient Outreach Service, that supports wards across the Christchurch Hospital Campus, as well as the Canterbury Air Retrieval Service, that supports the South Island Region
The Psychologist - Intensive Care Unit role is responsible for providing psychological care to our patients and their whanau within our intensive care service. The key focus of the role is to maximise the ability of our patients to engage in their recovery and rehabilitation through the provision of psycho-social assessment, intervention and support.
**Ko wai koe **| About You**
We are looking for an experienced Psychologist, to provide psychological care to patients and their whānau within the ICU service, as part of the wide ICU multidisciplinary team.
You will have experience supporting, developing and maintaining an agreed model of service delivery for psychology access for patients and their whānau.
Your professionalism and dedication to providing high-quality patient care will ensure your success in this role, and your communication and time management skills will enable you to function well as a member of the larger multidisciplinary team.

To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board, with a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Member of a professional psychological organisation (NZCCP or NZPsS)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Psychologist and working at a Senior level
- Completed appropriate supervision training and has supervision experience.
- Experience working relationally, with whānau, and with complex systems.
- Experience of working with patients with complex needs
- Ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload to operate effectively.
