**Mō te tūnga | About the role**
The purpose of Te Tari Pūreke, Firearms Safety Authority business unit is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety through an effective regulatory and administrative approach to the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. Established to lead, operate, and develop investment in modernisation of the firearms system, which will result in a more efficient and effective risk-based licensing system, and shall improve public confidence in the firearms licensing system. The modernisation of the Arms Regulatory System will take every opportunity to prevent harm through transparent, high quality, consistent, legislatively correct, and effective regulatory activities. This will also cover world leading administration, education, and promotion of compliance within the provisions of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.
To support the delivery of these outcomes the Service Supervisor - Registry will take every opportunity to prevent harm through the transparent, consistent, timely and efficient regulation, administration, education, and promotion of compliance with the provisions of the Arms Act.
Importantly you will have people leaderships skills which will enbale you to plan, develop and monitor the performance of staff in your team. You will be ensuring that they are motivated, trained and encouraged to the best of their abilities. Managing PHPF conversations, appraisals and supporting ongoing training, you will lead NZP values and instil these values within the team.
**Takohanga Matua | Key Accountabilities**:
- The day-to-day supervision, monitoring, task allocation and required reporting
- Hands on team supervision, adherence to Registry service levels and time-based KPI’s
- Monitoring of team workflow and through put, assigning appropriate resources to meet demand
- Identifying areas of risk or of increased demand and ensuring risk mitigation actions are taken / reported
- Contribution to the management of the end-to-end revocation process as required
- Completing internal control checks and quality assurance processes to ensure data and regulatory compliance
- Overseeing requirements of NIA entry, Arms Act, Arms Regulations and other nationally mandated systems, processes, documentation, and procedures
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal and external working relationships with key individuals and agencies at the appropriate level.
- Foster licence holder understanding of their regulatory responsibilities
- Provide accurate advice and share information with appropriate stakeholders
**Qualifications / Requirements***:
- Applicants need to be New Zealand Permanent Residents

**Skills**:
