To provide quality and timely design verification services to our customers for the Industrial Regulatory Team.
- Pressure Vessel Design Verification: Review and analyse pressure vessel designs, calculations, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with international codes and standards such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, AS/NZS standards, PED, and other relevant regulations.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and materials selections to ensure adherence to company standards and industry best practices.
- Compliance Assessment: Evaluate pressure vessel designs to ensure they comply with local, national, and international codes, regulations, and safety guidelines, as well as any client-specific requirements.
- Administration of the Pressure Vessel design verification business; providing technical and organisational leadership.
- Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance to the engineering team regarding pressure vessel design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and welding practices to improve design efficiency and safety.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, project managers, quality assurance personnel, and regulatory authorities, to address design issues, resolve challenges, and optimize the design verification process.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of design verification activities and prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings, recommendations, and compliance status for internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in the development and enhancement of internal processes and procedures related to pressure vessel design verification to ensure continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Training and Mentoring: Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior verification engineers to develop their skills and expertise in pressure vessel design verification.
- Safety and Risk Assessment: Identify potential safety hazards and risks associated with pressure vessel designs, and propose appropriate design modifications or risk mitigation strategies.
- Identify your internal and external customers, determine and agree their requirements and ensure your output meets the standards you agree with them.
- Comply with SGS quality policy and objectives at all times.
- To undertake the required training and registrations as necessary to maintain certification and technical competency at all times.
- Raise a Fix It report when you observe an improvement or problem in the Quality Management system.
Undertake all other relevant work requests relevant to your position in accordance with SGS policies and procedures.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- CPEng in Design verification
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in pressure vessel design, analysis, and verification.
- In-depth knowledge of international pressure vessel design codes and standards, such as ASME, AS/NZS, PED, etc.
- Proficiency in using industry-standard design and analysis software for pressure vessels.
- Familiarity with materials selection, fabrication methods, and welding procedures related to pressure vessel manufacturing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with stakeholders at various levels.
**Additional Information**
- Registered professional engineer (Chartered is desired) for eligibility assessment by Engineering New Zealand for CPEng registration in NZ.
- Familiarity with materials selection, fabrication methods, welding procedures etc related to cranes manufacturing, testing and inspection.
