**Mō tēnei mahi | About this job**
We are looking for a **Cook (Kaitautoko)**to join us our Puna Reo in Gisborne on a permanent, part time (20 hours per week) basis.
You'll play a vital role in ensuring our tamariki receive nutritious, well-balanced meals that support their growth and development. You'll be responsible for planning and preparing morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, following food safety regulations, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen. At times, you may be required to provide additional support on the floor to maintain staff-to-child ratios and ensure a safe and engaging learning environment.
**Mōu | About you**
- A Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) or related field.
- A Food Safety Certificate.
- A sound understanding of nutritional needs for Tamariki ages 3 months to 5 years old.
- The ability to cook 30-50 child portion meals and snacks daily.
- Knowledge of the Food Act 2014 and National Programme 2.
- A Full NZ Drivers’ License (Class 1).
- A sound understanding of te reo Māori phrases, mihi and greetings, and Māori values, culture, and tikanga, would be advantageous.
You will need to undergo and pass a safety check as required under the Children’s Act 2014. The role also requires some lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
