This is an exciting position for someone who has a passion to work in health promotion leading the way for dental health education. The role is designed to ensure the Community Oral Health Service provides advocacy and leadership in oral health within the community. You will have a high level of communication and the ability to develop positive relationships. The main focus of the role is work alongside children and their families, you will be friendly and encouraging with experience working with young children.
The role will complement the Taupo Community Oral Health Service team who work in the fixed dental clinics and mobile dental clinics. The role is based in Taupo where no two days will be the same. You will be required to travel within Taupo and Turangi region and engage with a diverse range of people from a variety of different cultures and communities. Key community groups will include early childhood centers, Kohanga Reo and community primary health services.
A qualification and/or experience as either a Health Promoter and/or Dental Assistant is desirable. We are a seeking a motivated person who has a sound understanding of health disparities and show's leadership to promote positive health and wellbeing solutions for families of young children. You will have a good understanding of Maori culture and beliefs and a commitment to Maori health. It is desirable to have a high level of Te Reo Maori but a commitment to using Te Reo Maori in basic forms is acceptable.
There is a significant administrative component to this role so it is essential that you are computer literate, have strong attention to detail and excellent time management. A current drivers' license with no restrictions is essential for this position.
A requirement of employment with Te Whatu Ora Lakes is a satisfactory Worker Safety Check including Police and Vulnerable Children's legislation checks.
You will need to have a good understanding of the principles of health promotion, be able to undertake health needs assessments, planning, implementing and evaluating projects to promote health improvement.

**Salary Range**: $59,035 - $83,030 pro rated to hours worked
