Te Whatu Ora - Hawke's Bay is a large organisation (3,500 staff, $700m cost-centre) operating in the exciting, changing Health sector. In turn, we're part of Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, NZ's largest employer with 90,000 staff, so future career prospects will be plentiful.

In this role of Health & Safety Manager for the Hawke's Bay health district, you will have organisation-wide responsibility for the full ambit of health, safety and occupational health functions. This includes contributing to strategy development, project managing key initiatives, implementing guidelines, liaising with all stakeholders and being our expert advisor in this space. Key initiatives include developing an employee safety culture, occupational health management, significant support for staff wellbeing, new systems implementation and risk management.

The vacancy results from a retirement of a valued staff member. It reports to the Hawke's Bay Executive Director - People & Culture and you will have responsibility for leading a team of 10 staff across, health, safety and occupational health. A key part of the role is participating in national initiatives and new developments as we collaboratively build Te Whatu Ora - Health NZ's new national framework in this area.
