Nāia te pōwhiri nā Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha kia tono mai i te tūranga nei._ **Āu Mahi | What You Will Do** The University of Canterbury's project, Analytics for Course Engagement ("ACE"), harnesses the power of predictive analytics to transform student engagement and success. Our ACE programme provides students with an enhanced real-time view of online engagement with the University's learning systems. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will use predictive analytics and data analysis to improve the ACE models, refine the process, and provide valuable insights to drive the direction of ACE to improve outcomes for our students. Tasks will include: - Identifying and improving predictive models, analysing new data sources and their usefulness in relation to improving student outcomes. - Working closely and collaborating with team members to understand, extract and deliver high quality data and analytics insights. - Using modern tools and techniques to clean and analyse a wide variety of complex datasets. - Ensuring data privacy and ethical data use. **Mōu | Who You Are** You will be an experienced Data Scientist with at least 8 years in a similar role. You will also have: - Extensive experience in business analysis, information analysis, or data science within large organisations, ideally across multiple functions and industries. An understanding of the Higher Education environment is an advantage. - Advanced proficiency in data visualisation tools, particularly Microsoft Power BI, with the ability to design clear, engaging dashboards, presentations, and reports. - Experience managing data from multiple sources within a data warehouse platform, preferably Snowflake. - Strong analytical skills in interpreting both qualitative and quantitative data to provide actionable insights for management. - Proven track record of addressing complex management questions through data-driven insights and advanced analytical methods. - Ability to work independently with confidence, while also collaborating effectively within a team. - A tertiary qualification, ideally in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or equivalent work experience. - An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment. **Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With** You will work as part of a project team within UC's Student Success Programme - Kia Angitu.
