**Work Details**
- We have 30 permanent positions available in Auckland
- Work Monday to Friday and Saturdays as required.
- Guaranteed 35 hours per week
- Competitive remuneration: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
**Role Description**
Our team is currently looking for labourers to join the our project delivery team as a construction operative. Youll be involved in construction activities throughout the business such as excavation of trenching, laying of drainage pipe and assisting our skilled tradespeople.
Were looking for someone seeking exposure across the construction of a wide range of civil infrastructure projects. Well empower you to grow and train on site through new tickets/licenses and experience with plant and machinery. To be suitable for this role you will have to be keen to get stuck in and contribute to site productivity, quality and safety.
**Responsibilities**
- Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures.
- Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes.
- Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.
- Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
- Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
- Excavation of shallow trenches by hand tool excavation
- Installation of new pipes Storm Water Drainage, Water, Sewerage including laying in trenches and connecting to fixtures
- Use of tools and small plant to cut and measure pipes
- Compliance and relevant reporting in line with site safety and procedures
- General construction labouring as directed
- Contribute to the identification of hazards, risks and controls on site.
- Checking all plant & reporting issues to foreman. Visually check machine and ensure all RUCs, servicing etc. is up to date and equipment is fit for purpose.
**Required Attributes**
- 2+ years experience in construction
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven In-depth knowledge of construction procedures and equipment or a willingness to learn and a capability to follow direction and act according to QHSE requirements.
- Colour vision: Construction Operatives must be able to distinguish colour clearly to perform their duties, such as knowing which colours of wire an electrician needs.
- Mathematics: Construction Operatives will perform calculations every day. General numeracy skills that are vital to laborers include algebra and trigonometry.
- Mechanical acuity: Construction Operative also must maintain and operate heavy equipment and machinery, from forklifts to jackhammers and more.
- Stamina and endurance: To perform their very physical job, Construction Operatives will conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks for long hours and in extreme environmental conditions.
- Strength: The lifting duties involved in the job of a Construction Operative often require lifting and carrying weights in excess of 20kgs.
