Downer is an industry leader in water, providing water services to a quarter of New Zealanders. We support our customers across the full asset lifecycle from the conceptual development of a project through design, construction, commissioning and whole-of-life support and optimisation.

**About the role**:
Based in Albany but covering the wider Auckland region, Downer NZ has an opportunity for an experienced Water Leading hand to join our existing team on the Watercare Maintenance contract.

The primary role of the Water Leading Hand will be the onsite management and planning of water projects. This will require the supervision of staff carrying out this project work so that it meets contract specifications and client expectations. The Leading Hand will be expected to be involved in organising, directing and controlling activities and operations of staff to ensure that work is completed to the satisfaction of customers and all targets (productivity, quality and safety) are met. The Leading Hand will be expected to work ‘hands-on’ and at to also provide training and development for team members if required. Our primary work hours are between 7AM to 5 PM during the weekdays, with the option of working weekends and overtime also available.

You will have previous experience in the Water and/or Drainage Industry and will bring with you;
The following is a list of qualifications and skills required for the job.
- Proven experience in or an interest in Water Reticulation.
- A full driver's license and Class 2 HT license is preferred.
- Digger experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
- Good communication skills.
- Awareness of potential risks and safety hazards. Experience in dealing with the public.
