**Summer Assistant Vacancy - Biosecurity - Animal Distribution (Fixed term - 12 weeks)**:

**Te Tūranga - The Role**:
Our Biosecurity team is working on surveying and mapping pest animal distribution within the Bay of Plenty region and we need your help You will be involved in:

- Fieldwork - driving and walking properties to identify presence and absence of pest animals.
- Liaise with landowners.
- Coordinate data and enter it into a specialised GIS database.
- Work alongside our team of Biosecurity Officers and support their projects and workloads.

You’ll be joining the Biosecurity team. We are a team that is passionate about the environment. We work towards delivering the goals and objectives of the Regional Pest Management Plan for the Bay of Plenty region. Our work covers a variety of environments, problem solving and challenges that our region has with pests.

**Ngā Pūkenga, ngā wheako - Your Skills & Experience**:

- Experience in or be studying in a biosecurity or environmental field.
- Good fitness for fieldwork and confidence in own abilities.
- Experience using GIS would be an advantage.
- Proactive mindset for planning your days and weeks.
- Ability to work alone in remote places when necessary.
- Hold a current Full driver’s licence.

This position will be located in Whakatāne.
