**Where you’ll be working**: Haematology Laboratory Waikato Hospital

**The details**: Full time, Fixed term - 40 hours per week, rostered

**Salary details**: PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical MECA + Kiwi saver
- We are looking for a registered Medical Laboratory Technician to cover parental leave until August 2025
- This role requires a knowledgeable, confident and experienced technician who shows initiative and works well within a team environment

An opportunity has risen for a medical laboratory technician to work as part of our close knit, hardworking Haematology team. The successful applicant can expect to be exposed to an interesting and varied work environment, enabling them to learn new skills and build their knowledge in medical laboratory science.

Key responsibilities of the role:

- Support the day to day running of the Haematology department including quality control, sample analysis, reagent management and clinical support (bone marrows biopsy)
- Participation in out of hours roster including evening and weekend shifts
- Work alongside scientists and clinicians to provide a high quality laboratory service

**Mōu | About you**

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Commitment to quality improvement
- To be successful, you must be registered with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand or be eligible to be registered.
- Previous medical laboratory experience is desirable

Our busy medical diagnostic laboratory provides a full range of services to Waikato Hospital, as well as supporting our five satellite hospital labs. We also provide specialist testing for community laboratories within the greater Waikato and Midland region. These services include routine haematology, routine and special coagulation, flow cytometry, haemoglobinopathy studies and blood film morphology.
