**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and Hauora Maori Service colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Clinical Advisor, Rural Health will work in partnership with other clinical leaders and hold critical clinical relationships both internally and externally with key sector clinical groups. Whether in a national or regional role, the Clinical Advisor, Rural Health will work in a collaborative way with other system development colleagues across commissioning teams to design and implement improvements that address equity, quality, and patient safety outcomes. This role has an important role to play in whole-of-system clinical processes.
