**About the Role**
Bay of Plenty - Hauora a Toi have a rare and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Senior Registered Midwife to step into the role of Midwife Educator within our Ko Matariki Maternity Unit based at Whakatāne hospital in a full-time, permanent position working 0.3FTE (12 hours per week).
This is a pivotal ledership role within our secondary care maternity service, where you will support and guide midwives, nurses, students, and new graduates through education, mentorship, and clinical coaching. You will be responsible for promoting and operationally safe and evidence-based practice environment, enabling our team and the wider LMC community, to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care to hapū māmā and their whānau.
Your influence will directly contribute to staff capability, service resilience, and excellence in maternity across the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Ko Matariki Maternity Unit is based in the beautiful Eastern Bay of Plenty, where our unit supports birthing women, babies, and their whānau across a diverse and vibrant community. **About you**
If you are a confident and experienced midwife with a passion for teaching, leadership, and service development. You bring calm to complexity, nurture potential in others, and lead with integrity and purpose.
**_ What you will bring:_**
- New Zealand Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years’ clinical midwifery experience.
- Proven ability to mentor, teach and support staff at all levels.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- A collaborative, strengths-based leadership style.
- Understand of change in management and service development (desirable)
- A deep commitment to safe, equitable, and evidence-based maternity care.
