Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Bioprocess Engineer to join our team in Rotorua. As a key member of our Materials, Engineering & Manufacturing research group, you will contribute your expertise to lead, develop, and deliver on our research pathway in biotechnology and biomanufacturing. You will work closely with commercial partners and be responsible for designing process systems, supporting research projects, and collaborating with end-users and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead current research projects in areas including biomass-based biorefineries, biomanufacturing, fermentation, extraction, and biofuel production
  • Design process systems in accordance with formal process engineering methodologies and best practice
  • Collaborate with commercial partners and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Sustainable Materials Team Lead and other team members

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrable experience in applied research and process development or optimisation, along with a related tertiary qualification
  • Extensive expertise in bioprocess design, evaluation, optimisation, and safety
  • Knowledge of general process safety techniques and practice such as HAZOP and/or LOPA
  • Enthusiastic and innovative approach to science tasks; self-starter with ability to work independently on tasks or as part of a team
