**Position Overview**

As a Bird Keeper at Auckland Zoo, you will play a crucial role in the daily care, management, and welfare of our diverse bird species, while also contributing to conservation efforts both within the zoo and in the field.

You will help create and maintain innovative aviaries and habitats, deliver exceptional visitor experiences, and share key conservation messages about birds with the public.

This role reports to the Team Leader(s) Birds.

You'll be working on a variable roster system including some weekend days and public holidays.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Assist in the development and implementation of breeding programs for various bird species
• Maintain accurate records of animal health, behavior, and habitat conditions
• Collaborate with the team to design and implement enrichment activities for birds

**Requirements**

• At least two years of experience in bird-keeping or a related field
• Relevant qualification in biological or conservation sciences
• Strong passion for avian welfare
• Current full New Zealand Driver's License (manual gearshift preferred)
