About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Pathologist to join our team at Christchurch Hospital, part of Health New Zealand. As a key member of our forensic pathology service, you will play a crucial role in supporting families, coroners, police, and the courts.
The successful candidate will have expertise in performing post-mortem examinations, delivering detailed autopsy reports, and providing expert court testimony. You will also supervise and train forensic pathology trainees as part of our training program, provide occasional teaching sessions for medical students and new police officers, and contribute to shaping the future of forensic pathology services.
To be eligible for this position, you will require a FRCPA qualification or international equivalent, with a preference for candidates with post-qualification experience. However, recent graduates are also welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
- Perform post-mortem examinations and deliver detailed autopsy reports
- Attend police-requested scenes and provide expert court testimony
- Supervise and train forensic pathology trainees
- Provide occasional teaching sessions for medical students and new police officers
- Contribute to shaping the future of forensic pathology services
Requirements
- FRCPA qualification or international equivalent
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
