Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Large Animal Veterinary Technician to join our Te Awamutu clinic team. As a key member of our production animal services team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support to our veterinarians and assisting with routine farm visits, diagnostic sampling, and administrative tasks. Your strong communication skills and ability to work independently will enable you to build strong relationships with our clients and deliver outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support to veterinarians during farm visits and procedures
* Assist with collection and interpretation of diagnostic samples
* Administer vaccinations, medications, and perform routine procedures such as metrichecking and metricuring
* Conduct ultrasound pregnancy testing and teatseal administration
* Support research projects and contribute to the development of new technologies and practices
* Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
Requirements:
* A minimum of 3 years' experience working with production animals on farm
* Formal qualification in Veterinary Technology (Level 4 or above)
* Full and clean New Zealand Class 1 driver's license
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Passion for animal welfare and commitment to delivering exceptional client service
