Rural Hospital Medicine Registrar

About the Role:
We are seeking a Rural Hospital Medicine Registrar to cover our Emergency Department and Inpatient Ward at Hawera Hospital. This 6-month role is accredited for specialist qualification by RNZCGP and offers valuable training experience.
Duties:
The Registrar will be responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of inpatients, including admission and clerking of acute admissions, attendance at ward rounds, and routine ward work. They will also instigate treatments and manage patients in the ED as directed/supervised by the Consultant/MOSS. The Registrar will work as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in both inpatient and outpatient areas.
Hospital Setting:
There is one Rural Hospital Consultant on duty each day and one Rural Hospital Registrar or Rural Hospital Medicine House Officer (minimum PGY 2) in the in-patient ward or ED. Additionally, there is one Consultant or Medical Officer of Special Scale (MOSS) in the Hawera ED 24/7.
Requirements:
To be eligible for this role, candidates must be PGY3 plus or equivalent with MCNZ registration. They should enjoy working in a small, collegial team and share the company's vision and values, ensuring excellent patient care throughout their journey.
