OceanaGold is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Officer to join our team in Waihi. As an Environmental Officer, you will play a key role in driving improved environmental performance through monitoring and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze environmental effects to inform decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with consent conditions by monitoring mining activities.
- Carry out monitoring and sampling of various environmental factors.
- Maintain and calibrate monitoring equipment.
- Liaise with technical advisors and senior staff to implement recommended actions.
- Establish and manage priorities to achieve individual and team performance goals.
- Present environmental information to internal groups.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.
- Identify and implement environmental improvements.
- Carry out site inspections and advise on non-compliances.
- Perform administrative tasks related to the role.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in environmental management or earth science.
- Full and current driver's license, ability to drive manual vehicles preferred.
- Minimum 1 year's experience in a similar role, preferably in mining or construction.
