About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Speech-Language Therapist to join our team at Tauranga Special School. As a Speech-Language Therapist, you will play a critical role in supporting students' communication and eating needs in the education setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with communication and eating needs in the context of their education setting and community.
  • Work closely with parents, caregivers, teachers, therapists, and other specialists to help support students with the development of speech, language, and communication skills.
  • Develop and implement speech and language therapy programmes that work across the school day to support access to the school curriculum for individuals and groups.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor or Master's degree in Speech-language Therapy and a current practising certificate with the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists Association.
  • Specialist knowledge of theory, research, and practice related to eating, drinking, swallowing, speech, language, augmentative communication systems, child and human development, and learning and behaviour.
  • The ability to deliver services to a diverse range of students and work to the Ministry of Education Service Standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people, and their families, as well as with teachers, teacher aides, and other community agencies.
