We are seeking an experienced Alcohol and Drug Clinician to provide intensive, personalized care to approximately 70 individuals and their whanau who have high needs and are not currently receiving adequate support. This is a new service committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and providing a well-integrated clinical and cultural model of care.
The successful candidate will possess strong competencies in te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or be willing to start their journey and take ownership of their learning and growth. They will design, implement, and evaluate alcohol and drug groups and educational programs tailored to the strengths, needs, characteristics, preferences, and goals of participants.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with Kaimahi across the Waikato region to provide a flexible community-based multi-disciplinary treatment and rehabilitation service for tangata whaiora and their whanau. Key responsibilities include assessing client readiness to change and immediate risk and safety concerns, designing, implementing, and evaluating alcohol and drug groups and educational programs, and liaising and working alongside Kaimahi across the Waikato region.
Key RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- Strong competencies in te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
- A minimum of 5 years' work experience working with high-need individuals and/or whanau experiencing significant mental health and addiction problems
- A strong desire to work from a te ao Maori perspective, acknowledging contributions from both cultural and clinical perspectives
