Overview

We are seeking two permanent senior communications professionals and two six-month fixed-term communications advisors to join our team at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communications strategies to support various portfolios and functions within the ministry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective internal and external communications plans to promote the work of MBIE and its stakeholders
  • Collaborate with senior managers, ministers' offices, and subject matter experts to build strong working relationships and communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Manage media relationships and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the media landscape
  • Provide proactive and strategic advice to support the delivery of high-profile ministerial announcements and other communications initiatives
Requirements
  • At least five years of experience in creating and delivering internal and/or external communications strategies and supporting material
  • Proven ability to think on your feet, work under pressure, and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver comprehensive communications strategies
  • Sound understanding of central government decision-making and operating procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with senior managers, ministers' offices, and subject matter experts
  • Ability to use deep experience in issues and risk management, proactive engagement, and communications planning to drive business results
