About the Role
The Systems Audit Team at Cgr Services plays a crucial part in delivering systems audit programmes that ensure food safety, assurance, and market access outcomes. This team underpins New Zealand's $50 billion of food and primary industries export trade.
As a Specialist Systems Auditor, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging audits, both individually and with a team for larger audits.
This role requires you to travel across the country and provide technical expertise to domestic and international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

  • You will visit businesses across New Zealand to confirm that they are complying with relevant requirements.
  • The facilitation and hosting of overseas authority audits who come to New Zealand to confirm that their country requirements are being met.
  • Providing subject matter expertise to accreditation bodies to ensure that those being accredited are meeting the relevant requirements.
  • Identification of areas for improvement of the Food Safety system and regulation settings.

About You
We are looking for an excellent communicator (both written and verbal) who has significant experience in auditing, verification or has an in-depth understanding of a sector and its requirements.
Our next Specialist Systems Auditor will be looking for their next career challenge and take pride in professionally representing Cgr Services in the domestic and overseas spheres.
You will be a technical expert in a relevant field; our preference is with veterinary experience in the red meat sector and/or subject matter expertise in shellfish, poultry, and other animal products.
This role requires frequent and irregular travel (including overnight stays which can last up to three weeks and day trips).
The successful applicant must be prepared for working in this way.
Required Skills and Qualifications include:

  • Tertiary qualification relating to the primary sector (e.g., Veterinary Science qualification recognised by the Veterinary Council of New Zealand, Food Safety or Food Technology, Science)
  • Effective relationship management and building
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct systematic audits and investigations
  • Knowledge of international trade arrangements and MPI's role as a Competent Authority
  • In-depth knowledge of the Animal Products Act
  • Awareness of other specific sector standards – This includes: regulatory frameworks (ACVM, Animal Welfare, Food Act, Wine Act and Biosecurity Act) and administrative regimes (Organics, Plants, Treatments or Seed Varietal)
