Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join our team as a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist for General Adults and Consultation Liaison.
The successful candidate will have expertise in acute care and be able to work effectively with other departments. They will also have the ability to mentor junior medical staff and teach medical students attached to the service.

Key Responsibilities
- Review clients triaged by the crisis team or via telephone assessment, and admit if necessary, to the ward.
- Triage GP referrals, manage patients admitted for detoxification to the medical wards and for liaising with medical/surgical wards for patients transferred from Te Puna Waiora, the inpatient unit.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the proper medical evaluation and management are accomplished for the medical stabilization of patients before providing the necessary psychiatric treatment.
