Rocket Assembly Engineer

As a Launch Technician - Mechanical, you'll be part of a team responsible for building, testing, and launching our Electron rocket at our launch sites and test facilities in the United States and New Zealand. You'll work closely with a team of technicians and engineers to build, test, operate, and maintain critical launch systems, including fit-out, assembly, and installation of launch pad systems, precision cleaning of critical components, troubleshooting mechanical issues on launch pad systems, and ensuring high launch pad and vehicle integrations are smooth.
About the TeamOur team is diligent, moves fast, and has each other's back to deliver a reliable rocket to the launch pad time and time again. You'll be working in a collaborative environment where everyone contributes to the success of the mission.
ResponsibilitiesYour primary responsibilities will include:
- Fit-out, assemble, and install launch pad systems, including heavy engineering structures, mechanisms, fluid lines, and associated components, electrical and control hardware, and RF equipment
- Precision cleaning of critical components
- Troubleshooting mechanical issues on launch pad systems
- Ensure high launch pad and vehicle integrations are smooth
To be successful in this role, you'll need previous experience in the assembly of large structures and mechanisms, experience in machining and fabrication, and knowledge of fluid systems - pneumatic, cryogenic, and/or hydraulics. You should also have the ability to read, understand, and follow detailed schematics, drawings, and instructions, and work under pressure and strict deadlines.
