Blind and Low Vision Education Network NZ (BLENNZ) is seeking an experienced teacher to support the education of students who are blind, deafblind and low vision.

Role Overview

The Resource Teacher Vision will work as part of a team to provide educational support to students from birth to 21 years. This includes developing and implementing individualized learning plans, providing guidance to parents and educators, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure students receive the best possible education.

This is a dynamic and innovative role that requires a strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and experience working with students who have vision impairments. The successful applicant will be a skilled communicator, able to develop excellent relationships with parents, family/whānau and educators.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students who are blind, deafblind and low vision
  2. Provide guidance and support to parents and educators on how to best support students with vision impairments
  3. Collaborate with other professionals to ensure students receive comprehensive and coordinated support
  4. Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have current teacher registration, up-to-date knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum, and experience working with students who have vision impairments. They will also possess strong interpersonal skills, be a competent user of technology, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
