The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support and advice for our retail and business customer products. This will include home loans, credit cards, everyday banking, and payments. You will be responsible for advising on legislation such as the CCCFA, FMCA, and FTA to ensure compliance and support product development.
You will also play a vital role in advancing our governance, strategy, and performance while identifying, reporting, and managing legal risks effectively. In this fast-paced environment, you will have the opportunity to build on your strengths and develop new skills, working closely with diverse teams, building relationships, and influencing key stakeholders to drive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide strategic legal support and advice for our retail and business customer products.
• Advise on legislation such as the CCCFA, FMCA, and FTA to ensure compliance and support product development.
• Identify, report, and manage legal risks effectively.
• Work closely with diverse teams, building relationships and influencing key stakeholders to drive business outcomes.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
• At least six years PQE, with recent exposure to banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of the CCCFA, FMCA, and other relevant legislation.
• Proven ability to lead banking-related projects, providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Experience in overseeing legal workstreams and mentoring junior team members, fostering their professional development.
• Strong ability to collaborate with diverse teams, build relationships, and influence key stakeholders to drive business outcomes.
• A proactive approach to learning, with a willingness to take on new challenges and develop expertise in legislation or regulatory changes you are unfamiliar with.
