About the Role
As a Counsellor within our Patient and Family Support Team, you will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide emotional support and guidance to patients, their partners, children, and families affected by cancer or palliative care.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. You will have experience working with clients presenting with mild to moderate levels of distress, including those experiencing loss and bereavement.
You will be responsible for delivering pre and post-bereavement support, counselling, and implementing the psychological support service in line with NICE Guidance on Cancer Care Services.
Key Responsibilities

- Providing emotional support and guidance to patients, their partners, children, and families.
- Delivering pre and post-bereavement support and counselling.
- Implementing the psychological support service in line with NICE Guidance on Cancer Care Services.
Requirements
- A BACP-approved Diploma in Counselling.
- Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
- Training in Clinical Supervision.
- Experience working as a qualified counsellor in the NHS or similar setting, with a wide variety of clients, including children and young people.
- Ability to manage own caseload and time.
