We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Advisor, Communications and Engagement to join our team.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in senior communications roles across government, private or non-government sectors nationally and/or internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicating complex information to support the Commission's work programme under the Climate Change Response Act (CCRA).
  • Providing communications and engagement leadership on diverse projects, ensuring efficient execution and delivery.
  • Delivering stakeholder and engagement communications plans, developing tools and templates, and operating as system owner for relevant channels.
  • Preparing speeches, media statements, presentations, commentary, social media content and other materials in a clear and well-structured manner related to specific projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Experience in product design, publication, and communications.
  • Demonstrated high levels of integrity.
  • Knowledge of the machinery of government, contemporary political environment, and government policies, and principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and Te Ao Māori.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work in a complex environment.
